These shades are a dual layer that slide over one another.  So, you can open them for a stripe effect, close them for light and privacy, or roll them all the way up for a clear view.

Our client has a modern style and she likes shutters, but was worried that they would close in the windows too much.  The answer?  Pirouettes!  The 5" louver is perfect for the size of her home, and really showcases her style.  When closed, they look like a roman shade, but in the open position, you have a clear view of the outdoors through the sheer back fabric. 

This is in the master bedroom, where she picked a metallic fabric in room darkening.
